glass and clay

It's been awhile since I've highlighted some of the artists we have in the gallery.  In the short few months that the gallery has been open, we've grown to showcasing the work of about 45 artists in the gallery.

When Mark and I visited the University District Street Fair we fell in love the beautiful glass work of Johnny and Darlene.  The colors in their glass is exquisite and their pieces draw a lot of attention from our customers.

Johnny and Darlene work as a team creating a wide variety of hand blown glass. creates exquisite crystal by mixing sand, soda ash, lime and other trace ingredients. Different designs are created by adding colored glass, gold, silver, and etc.

Susan is a local potter here in Tacoma. She loves the idea of functional pottery being used in daily living.  She wants her items to be used and loved and treasured.  Most of her pieces are thrown on the wheel and then altered in some way to add interest.

She also likes to play around with textures on her pots, both outside and inside.  Take the lid off some of her pieces and you will find a surprise design element hidden within the vessel.
